Puddle Patrol
Know before they go.
Toilet training works on one principle: get the puppy outside before they go. Everything else is cleaning up. Puddle Patrol works out when that is, and tells you.
Free. No account, no email, works offline. Logs by voice.
In active development. Builds change often and you should expect rough edges. You will need Apple’s free TestFlight app to install it, and an iPhone, because the beta is iOS only. The web app above is the stable one.
Hands full? Just say it.
“Hey Siri, log a wee”
From a locked phone, from search, or from your Apple Watch, without opening the app, without unlocking anything, without breaking stride. The log keeps the time you spoke it, so one made at six in the morning and noticed at lunchtime is still a six o’clock log.
What it looks like
One tap, that is all
Two big buttons. Tap when it happens. If it was indoors, tap “Inside?” on the row that appears. No forms and no timers to start, because the moment you need it you are holding a wriggling puppy in the rain.
It learns your dog’s rhythm
Day one it starts from what is normal for a puppy that age. Within a couple of days it has learned your dog’s own pattern and the window tightens. Tag a log as “after eating” or “before a walk” and it learns those too.
It tells you when it is unsure
The app scores its own predictions and shows you the hit rate, honestly, including when it is wrong. While it is still learning it says so instead of guessing confidently. Quiet hours are yours to set and there is a daily cap, so it never becomes the app you mute.
The part that matters in a month
Accidents per day, which should be falling. Holding time by week, which should be rising as bladder control develops. A heatmap of when it happens across the week. Those curves are the proof the training is working.
Both of you can log it
Share a dog with a partner from a short code. You both log, you both see everything, and the predictions learn from all of it. Track more than one dog from the same phone too.
Hands full? Say it
“Hey Siri, log a wee” works from a locked phone, from Spotlight, and from an Apple Watch, without opening the app. Every log keeps the time you SPOKE it, so one made at six in the morning and noticed at lunchtime is still a six o’clock log, which is the only version the predictions can use.
On your wrist and your home screen
A widget shows when each is likely next, with a tap to log either. The Apple Watch app does the same, and puts the next wee and the next poo on your watch face. A log made on a walk with the phone left at home waits on the watch and lands the moment they are back together.
No account, no email, no ads
There is nothing to sign up for. Everything is stored on your phone first and the whole app works with no signal.
Backup is optional and anonymous. When it is on, your logs are copied to our server against a random identifier your phone generated on first run, protected by a secret it has never shown anyone, including us. There is no name, no email and no account attached, because none of those exist. The only thing in there that you typed is your dog’s name.
Helping improve predictions for other dogs is a separate switch you can leave off. It sends breed, an age band and two timing averages, under a different random identifier again, so it cannot be tied back to your backup. The privacy policy spells out exactly what leaves the device.
